Those Devious Email Marketers Sink To A New Low

Have you noticed how email marketers are stooping to sneaky tactics to get you to open their emails? You know the ones I mean:
"download link enclosed"
"are you still up?"
"Your affiliate commissions"
"canceled"
"Response Required"
Then there are the cocky marketers who use obvious subliminal messages like:
(open now)
(urgent)
(read)
(you are getting sleepy)
I tried them a few times and felt like I was lying to people… so I stopped.

The trick with email marketing is to tell the truth in a way that still gets people curious. Like when I was sending information about the membership site plugin, I used the subject line:

"about your membership site"

That one got a lot of response, and it was not misleading.

I am seeing more and more of the gurus stooping to the email deception practices. What this tells me is that even though they have hundreds of thousands of people on their lists, they still have issues with their open rate.

They know that by getting you to open their email, they have a much better chance of making a sale. A simple one percent increase in open rate can translate into thousands of dollars when your list is hundreds of thousands of people. For those of us with lists under 10,000 it is only a small amount of money, but it does mean the difference between sales or no sales.

Another thing that I noticed, too, is that when a launch is supported by the 100k listers, it is next to impossible for those with smaller lists to make any headway in those launches. A sale here and a sale there, but nothing meaningful. I also find that by the time a person has gotten to my email about a product launch, they are so sick and tired of seeing the same subject lines that they are hitting the spam button.

So not only is participating in these launches a waste of my time, but it also means that I am hurting my relationship with my subscribers. Many of the marketers who put on these launches are my good friends, and I do participate in those because they are my friends.

But do not expect to see me doing what everyone else is doing. More likely, I will continue to use my blogs as the delivery method of choice for my promotions.

Miracle Traffic Bot Vs. Traffic Magnet – WIIFY

Sometimes I wonder…

I saw more major marketers, including Matthew Glanfield, Jeremy Gislason, Michael Rassmussen and Todd Gross promoting Miracle Traffic Bot during the launch. Sure, Paul Ponna puts out some nice products. But did these marketers do their research?

Traffic Experts

When you need traffic, do you know what to do?

If you listen to the majority of marketers, you have to write articles, submit them to article directories, and then repeat.

This is a good standard, but not nearly adequate anymore. Not unless you plan on spending all of your time writing and submitting. Time is the main factor, as you have to write good content to be accepted in your market, and that requires research.

Articles Are Not Enough

Obviously, articles can’t be the end all, cure all for getting traffic. Most of the experts recommend a balanced approach of Articles, Videos, Press Releases and Social Bookmarks to really help get the links out there for your money site.

I found a few websites that help you create videos out of your articles, and I will be reviewing those very soon. but even if you just get your flip cam out and shoot a few minutes of you reading your article (or the bullet points of the article), the video will be a great way to supplement your articles. Not to mention that you can take the soundtrack using Audacity and submit that to the podcast sites, too!

Ok – I Have Videos & Articles – Now What?

Two products are on the market right now claiming to do the same thing. Miracle Traffic Bot launched with a group of powerful marketers supporting the launch with huge bonuses and bold claims. Ross Goldberg’s Traffic Magnet launched quietly without a whole lot of attention.

Miracle Traffic Bot

I looked at the sales page and listened to the webinar and I was impressed enough to buy it right on the spot, during the webinar. The bonuses sounded good, and the training Paul Ponna offered during the webinar was worth the $77, although the $37 per month for the premium was making me scratch my head a little. I am still unsure as to what I am getting for the $37 per month.

The software works great, submissions are pretty fast, and you can adjust them to take as long as you want (to make the results look more natural). You get to send your articles to 10 different sites, but unless you do 10 different submissions, the same article is being submitted 10 times.

Video sites are the same way as the article sites. You get 10 sites, and the submissions will be identical unless you create 10 separate submissions. While it is not Earth shattering to submit the same content to 10 different sites, it does make for less results showing up in the search engines, because the first 3 will show up, and then the rest will be shown only if you click on the “show other sites like this” link in the search results.

Miracle Traffic Bot came with an Article Spinner, but I was never able to get it to work. For some reason, it kept crashing on me. Luckily, I have Mass Article Creator, so I was able to spin my PLR articles into a few hundred new articles. But the problem is not having multiple articles to submit, but submitting the exact same one to all 10 sites.

Finally, the Miracle Traffic Bot is only able to run on PC’s. Unless you are running Windows on your MAC. So the market is very segmented when it comes to submission of your articles, videos and social bookmarks, you have to run a PC…

Traffic Magnet

Ross Goldberg has quietly been selling submission software for a couple years. His Revolution Automator was ahead of its time, and many of the submitters out there are copycats of Revolution Automator in one form or another. But Ross was not content with his software.

Run On Any Computer

When he set his programming team on Traffic Magnet, he told them that the software had to run on PC and MAC. They chose to run it on the Adobe Air platform, which means it will run on almost any computer.

Spin Cycle
